When I first started working on YouTube videos, I was previously editing for Wikipedia.

One of the articles I was working on was called Missing White Women Syndrome. A focus on why the media has an obsession with missing white women. By which, the mainstream media cover women who are upper middle class, pretty, coming from sturdy backgrounds and did I have to mention that they are white.

Determining the standards of the American media is "undefined"! The public generally thinks the news media has a political bias. Whether its either CBS, NPR, Fox News, or Wall Street Journal, the news media has officially sunk standards to new lows. And one in particular is the controversial coverage of missing people and inappropriate relationships.

As many probably recognize is that the media has eventually a missing person case. It happens when a family member urges the mainstream media to cover a loved one.

In 2005, Natalie Holloway, an Alabama high school senior who traveled to Aruba became the lightening rod of what some in the media claim an "over saturation" of coverage. And the people are noticing the issue. The media barely covered two missing moms! A Spartanburg mom by the name of Tamika Huston and Philadelphia mom by the name of LaToyia Figueroa were two prime examples. A national outpouring of supporters urge the media to push for the missing moms! The media did cover it and unfortunately they were murdered during our outcry for media attention.

CNN's Anderson Cooper once said that if there's any hard evidence that might lead into breaking a news story, then CNN will cover it. Its sister network Headline News is one of the primary suspects of how the media covers missing people. Nancy Grace, a former prosecutor who hosts a talk show is primarily an example. Others who are in this profile include: Greta Van Susteren and Geraldo Rivera of Fox News. These pundits are the leading voices of how the media sunk to new lows in covering missing people.

Soft news stories are usually involved when the media avoids covering major hard news stories. Missing people stories that the producers of a program think are relevant get major air time. They need a back story, a pretty face and a villain: and there you have it! Your major story! Now for all the missing and murdered victims out there, I want to send my prayers and condolences to all the families and friends of that loved one.

In sense, I want you to know that I have no racial bias to the issue! I believe that each missing person is a victim. I believe the media is a tool in helping find a missing loved one. And in no way, I wish death on any missing one. I promise that I will do all I can to help, but I rarely rely on the media in my quest to find someone. I think it's essential not to jump to conclusions when covering a missing person story.

As a bonus I will also cover Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly gets the wrath of an angry "mom" (grandmother) on live television! Caylee Anthony's grandmother Cindy lays one into Kelly over her rush to judgment. And of course, Fox News is upset and exploiting it to the fullest. My prayers go to the mother Cassie and the grandmother Cindy Anthony.

To the family of Marilyn Renee "Niqui" McCown: It's been over seven years and Niqui McCown is still missing and not one mention other than local news media in my hometown of Dayton, Ohio. I need help in urging the media to cover her disappearance.

Bush Pushes Anti-Choice Agenda Yet Again

This week Pres. Bush proposed new regulations to the Dept. of Health and Human Services that reclassify birth control as a form of abortion. Under these regulations, health care workers would have free reign to refuse women a wide range of pregnancy prevention services -- from giving out birth control to providing emergency contraception to women who have been raped.

On Friday, Sen. Hillary Clinton appeared at Bellevue Hospital Center in Manhattan along with leading reproductive rights advocates to oppose these regulations, which are not only harmful to women’s health and ideologically motivated, but highly unpopular.

NARAL Pro-Choice New York President Kelli Conlin summed it up well: “The American people overwhelmingly agree that women deserve access to contraception and the right to decide when to become a parent."

New Planned Parenthood Ad Slams McCain on Birth Control

Today, Planned Parenthood Action Fund is launching this television ad that nails McCain for voting against requiring insurance companies to match coverage they provide for Viagra with coverage for birth control. According to Politico, McCain argued that that kind of mandate "makes health care more expensive."

This is the first televised ad from a feminist group during this election cycle, but something tells me it won't be the last. Not only does McCain oppose birth control, but he also voted anti-choice in the Senate 123 out of 128 times. He would also overturn Roe v. Wade if elected, thereby criminalizing abortion.

McCain Squirms Out of Answering on Women's Health Care Issue

Presumptive Republican Presidential Candidate, John McCain, worms out of answering a reporter's question as to whether or not he believes that health insurance companies should be required to cover birth control for women, particularly considering they cover viagra for men.

McCain has long held radical positions on reproductive issues, having consistently voted AGAINST:

*Ensuring women's access to birth control

*Providing educational information for teens on birth control

*Requiring health insurance companies to cover birth control

McCain has stated that Roe vs. Wade "must be overturned." His position is that abortion should be not legal even in cases of rape, incest or life threatening conditions for the mother.

Despite his long standing extremely conservative position on women's reproductive rights, McCain can't remember whether or not he voted against requiring health insurance companies to cover birth control for women.

That is, the lies we tell ourselves...

“Under the Constitution.

They were stoned and beaten;
They were threatened and jailed,
But they held their ground,
And somehow prevailed.
In 1920 they could finally vote—
...Only took about a hundred and thirty years—
But the wheels of justice turn painfully slow
When men throw monkey wrenches in the gears.

But men saw their chance
And invented the sweatshop—
Worked women and their kids
Till they both would drop.
They’d pay them each
Only penny’s a day;
It was a thing they called “The American Way!”

Until Margaret Sanger, said,
“Our bodies are ours!

Finally, in 1965,
When many of us were already alive,
The court said in “Griswold”
That a man and wife
Were entitled to a contraceptive private life.
Of course, logic led quickly to Roe v. Wade,
But the Pope and other preachers
Were alarmed and dismayed,
(Not to mention afraid)
’Cause a powerless woman
Meant he had it made,
But if she rose up,
Then his power would fade.

After all of these years
Of raising her voice,
A woman finally found
That she had the choice
To decide for herself
When or if to give birth,
And millions of women
Have known what that’s worth.
But those men who lost
Both a maid and a slave
Have their own idea
Of how she should behave:
“Get her out of the man’s world
And back in the home;
Remove all her pills,
IUD’s, and her foam,
And outlaw abortion,
Take her choices away!
Give her rights to the fetus.
Praise the Lord! Let us pray...

“Let us pray that these women
Finally come to their senses
And not try to climb
Over any more fences.
They are there for a reason!
Take our word...we should know—
We built them for you,

The brilliant comedian and satirist George Carlin died yesterday, and one of the bits they ran for his obit. paralleled the line in this song about the Christians, Hindus, Muslims, and Jews. Like minds...

"They Talk to God" is the song I sang to Randall Terry and his Operation Rescue acolytes on the LAPD bus for those arrested during the onslaught against Los Angeles abortion clinics. I was the only Pro-Choice activist arrested that day (wrongfully arrested, I might add), and my song shut down the "party" on the bus. A more complete version of that day is available in my book, "Tim McMullen: Aged Fifty Years...A Life in Song."
