CONGRESS SPEND $100 MILLION ON TOP SECRET WEAPONS 4 SECURITY

As CNN reports (see video), Congress is forking over $100 million for "security expenses" in Denver and St. Paul this summer. CNN's Ed Lavendera says the types of weapons being purchased are "top secret" and this does not sit well with the ACLU, who is suing both cities to find out how the money is being spent. "In Minnesota where republicans are holding their convention, the ACLU says it's trying to find out how security money is being spent but law enforcement agencies insist these weapons should be kept secret so they have the upper hand in keeping the convention safe," explains Lavendera.
In other words, members of both factions of the globalist political party will be safe from agents provocateurs who are routinely dispatched to break a few windows and burn trash in the street in order to give the cops an excuse to attack peaceful demonstrators.
CNN and the corporate media are notorious for ignoring this fact, going back at least to late 1999 during the WTO demonstrations in Seattle. Neil deMause wrote for FAIR in early 2000, "most news outlets ignored the police assaults that preceded the looting, preferring to believe that it was the acts of a few out-of-control protesters that led to the violence, and downplaying police use of force.... numerous eyewitness reports would describe police ignoring vandals while busily assaulting demonstrators who were blockading the entrance to the WTO. The Seattle Times, in its timeline of the WTO protests (12/5/99), noted the first use of pepper spray and rubber bullets on demonstrators at 10 a.m. on November 30, nearly two hours before the first windows were broken." Peter Cassidy, a police tactics researcher, said at the time that the lack of concern over Seattle police behavior "will lend credibility for other police departments to do the same thing." In short, "opening your mouth becomes something that exposes you to danger. It exposes you to militarized forms of law enforcement."

Afshin Rattansi: We hear that Michael Mukasey is going to become the latest of the President's Attorney-Generals to be subpoenaed, this time over his conversations with Bush and Cheney -- does this show that Congress is serious about calling the executive to account?
Gore Vidal: No, Congress has never been more cowardly, nor more corrupt. All Bush has do is to make sure certain amounts of money go in the direction of certain important congressmen and that's end of any serious investigation. After all, one of the bravest members of Congress is Denis Kucinich who brought the article of impeachment in to the well of the House of Representatives. The House of Representatives must then try the president, and then after that it goes to the Senate for judgment. However, none of these things will happen because there's nobody there except for Mr. Kucinich who has the courage to take on a sitting president who is kind of a Mafioso.
Afshin Rattansi: How can it just be one person among so many hundreds of Congressmen who wants the impeachment of George W. Bush in these circumstances?
Gore Vidal: Well it's because we no longer have a country. We don't have a republic any more. During the last 7 or 8 years of the Bush regime, they've got rid of the Bill of Rights, they've got rid of habeas corpus. They have got rid of one of the nicest gifts that England ever left us when they went away and we ceased to be colonies -- the Magna Carta -- from the 12th century. All of our law and due process of law is based on that. And the Bush people got rid of it. The president and little Mr. Gonzales who for a few minutes was his Attorney General. They managed to get rid of all of the constitutional links that made us literally a republic.
Afshin Rattansi: You have often written about the United States' superpower status in terms of the history of previous superpowers. Do you think we're witnessing the end of U.S. power as some suggest. Will the White House be seen like Persepolis?

GLEN BECK says Don't Detain GITMO Suspects JUST SHOOT THEM

Today on his radio show, CNN host Glenn Beck expressed his disdain of
the recent Supreme Court ruling granting terror suspects the right to
challenge their detention in civilian courts, exclaiming that if he were
President, he would do away with detaining and prosecuting terrorism suspects
altogether. Instead, a President Beck would "shoot them all in the
head [if] we think that they are against us."
BECK: We're going to shoot them all in the head. If we think
that they are against us, we're going to shoot them and kill them,
period. Because that's the only thing we've got going for
us is we can put them away and get information. If we can't put
them away and they're going to use our court system, kill them.
If Beck were President since 9/11, he would have killed many innocent
people. Here are some of those held in Guantanamo who have either been
cleared of charges or were mistakenly detained. For example:
-- The "Tipton Three" who were forced into false confessions
and later released.
-- Huzaifa Parhat, an ethnic Uighur Chinese national swept up
by the U.S. forces in Afghanistan, who was improperly classified as
an "enemy combatant." Parhat has been recommended for release
by U.S. officials, while a military tribunal found no evidence that
Parhat was a member of any radical group.
-- Over 30 former Guantanamo detainees who have already been released.
Not only would such a policy undoubtedly kill innocents, but as former
Navy general counsel Alberto Mora has said, the belligerent treatment of terror suspects increases the recruitment of "insurgent fighters into combat."

What's really interesting about Michael Reagan issuing death threats and soliciting a contract for murder on his nationally syndicated radio show is the fact that it has received almost no coverage in the mainstream press. When Don Imus referred to members of the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy headed hoes", every major media network dedicated hours upon hours covering it until he was eventually fired. When Rush Limbaugh made a comment about black quarterbacks not being as good as white quarterbacks on ESPN, he was forced to resign after the resulting media firestorm. The comments made by Imus and Limbaugh were at worst inappropriate and in poor taste. Both Imus and Limbaugh had the right to say these things under the protection afforded to them under the First Amendment. What Reagan did by soliciting a contract for murder is a felony and far beyond anything that Imus and Limbaugh did to warrant the media coverage they received. Essentially what the mainstream press is saying through their coverage is that making politically incorrect statements over the airwaves is more news worthy than somebody soliciting a contract for murder over the airwaves.

"9/11 Families Seek Pope's Blessing For Unidentified Victims

Pope Benedict XVI's visit to ground zero Sunday to pray at the site where thousands were killed offered "a little consolation" to the father of a fallen Sept. 11 firefighter and to others, even though the pontiff did not mention those whose remains were never found, as some survivors had hoped he would.

"It's important," said James Riches, a deputy fire chief whose son Jimmy died in the World Trace Center attacks in 2001 along with more than 2,700 others.

Another son, Tom, who became a firefighter after his brother's death, was among those invited through a lottery to join the pontiff in the pit where the towers once stood. His father was invited to watch from the top of the site.

Some victims' relatives had hoped the pope would specifically bless those killed at ground zero whose remains were never found. They also wanted him to pray for the removal and burial of any remains that may have been taken to the Fresh Kills garbage dump on Staten Island. But the pope's prayers were not that specific.

"As a society we can't leave the victims in garbage," said Anthony Gardner, whose brother Harvey Joseph Gardner III was killed in the attacks. "We view the earthly remains as sacred. These victims deserve a proper burial."

Gardner is a member of World Trade Center Families for Proper Burial, a group who sued the city in 2005 over remains at Fresh Kills.

They contend that the city rushed the cleanup at ground zero and failed to deliver on a promise to sift debris taken to the dump to find body parts, remains and personal belongings.

More than 1,700 bone fragments have been recovered in the past two years in and around ground zero."
